Milking a cow at your doorstep...

Early morning one more doorstep delivery takes me to a bit surprize, fresh cow's milk delivered on demand... despite the era of packaged milk there are many takers for the fresh options..

Cow's milk is so ubiquitous that it doesn't even need a description. Whether poured on breakfast cereal, have it with your morning tea/coffee or enjoyed alone as a cold glass of milk, this beverage has become a staple diet that can be enjoyed year-round...

Cow's milk, the basis for all other dairy products, promotes strong bones by being a very good source of vitamin D and calcium, and a good source of vitamin K--three nutrients essential to bone health. In addition, cow's milk is a very good source of iodine, a mineral essential for thyroid function; and a very good source of riboflavin and good source of vitamin B12, two B vitamins that are necessary for cardiovascular health and energy production. Cow's milk is also a good source of vitamin A, a critical nutrient for immune function, and potassium, a nutrient important for cardiovacular health. Refer ..

Any indian household that has a old age lady today will still prefer fresh cow milk over packaged one. Its not just for the milk, but also for the byproducts of it. They believe the quality of curd, mava and paneer made out of fresh milk is way better than packed one.

Fresh milk THAT FRESH at your doorstep, I'd never heard of before. I remember as a child in France fetching the milk at the farm and the milk was still warm, but that beats it by far!
Thanks for this wonderful picture!

This brings back such memories! We had a cow when I was four, and I used to love milking her. I cried when my parents sold her.

My ignorance - I never thought of milk as an Indian staple.

Well we certainly wouldn't see that around Melbourne! Maybe milking a kangaroo, but not a cow! lol!
